China Grill Le Cirque 2000 Coco Pazzo The Four Seasons Gotham Bar and Grill 44 Vong
|
CHINA GRILL 60 W. 53rd St.(@6th Ave.)
| Very eighties in concept…the giant, high-end Chinese thang…yet still very "do"-able in the nineties. You’d have a hard time getting me here for dinner (unless I’m in the mood for doofussy Wall Street wannabees), but lunch time is the right time for spotting CBS execs and William Morris Agents. Never a bad move for a girl on the rise!! | |

LE CIRQUE 2000 455 Madison Ave 212-794-9292 Upper East Side
| Okay, so it’s totally ridiculous, and not truly hip, but still worth a visit. Think of it as a Brazil meets Fellini dining experience with your utterly surreal ringmaster, Sergio Maccione. He’s a true New York original and is the master at working a room of the most unworkable order. Socialites and celebrities alike vie for the best view from which to dine on delicacies such as white truffle risotto and foie gras ravioli with black truffles…From the likes on the menu, you’d never know the chef (Sottha Khunn) is Cambodian. | |
|
COCO PAZZO 23 E. 74th St. 212-794-0205 Upper East Side
| Staple for Upper East Siders who like to dine in style. The room is elegantly set, the food is Tuscan elegance, and all the socialites and movie stars are dressed…well…elegantly. It’s the Marie Chantall of Greece set… But it’s so upper-east-side-safe that whenever I’m there (which is often, mind you), I wish some flasher would crash the joint. We need to shake up the blue haired ladies a bit! | |
|
THE FOUR SEASONS 99 E. 52nd St. 212-754-9495 Midtown/Upper East
| Many of New York’s elite claim they have the best service in town. Watch Madison Avenue executives and chic hotel guests dine on steak tar tar, tuna carpaccio and Dover sole. Truly luxurious experience, but luxury ain’t cheap, baby. So, expense account it if you dare! | |
|
GOTHAM BAR AND GRILL 12 E. 12th St.(between 5th and University) 212-620-4020 Village
| The place in town to see hot men in expensive suits. Just like a Michael Douglas movie…you can feel the power and the cash in the room. Needless to say, it’s one of my favorites. The food, however, can be a bit upstaging. (I’ve never liked a dessert that looks more tart-like than myself!!) A little over the top in presentation, but makes up for it on the way down, as you scan the room and check out the local talent.. | |
|
44 @ The Royalton Hotel 44 W. 44th St. 212-689-5200
| New York’s literary elite flock here in droves to see and be seen while pushing their twenty-nine dollar entrees around their plates. Hot shots from Harper’s, Vogue and Vanity Fair call the fashion shots at this ever so slick Phillipe Stark designed eatery and bar. | |
|
VONG 200 E. 54th St. 212-486-9592 Midtown
| This French/Asian haven is brainchild of Jean George Vongerichten….and is still one of the most revered posts in town. The eclectic and rich interior is home to some of the most flavorful food around…Ever had Mucsovy duck breast with tamarind-sesame sauce? I have and it’s unreal! And with regulars like Donatella Versace and Woody Allen, it seems the décor is not the only thing that’s eclectic at Vong. |
