| South Beach is all about doing the disco thing and posing at VIP lounges till the wee hours of the morning. The club with the biggest buzz this month is The Bar Room. Read on my darling disco lovers and let Debbie sort through the plethora of dance halls and make sense of it all for you…. | |

BASH 655 WASHINGTON AVENUE. , SOUTH BEACH (305)538-2274
| Rumor has it that Sean Penn still owns this place. One recent Halloween proved to be enormously entertaining...when a gorgeous male model dressed up, quite convincingly, as a Greek God, toga and all, revealed he had removed his undies and was hoping to heighten his "ecstasy" rush by getting a hand job on the dance floor...he was left, shall we say...deflated and disappointed when Debbie declined to accommodate his needs. Darlings, this is only to illustrate that Bash is a friendly kind of dance club where you never know what you’ll get till you go inside(Gay, straight, bi, old, nubile...whatever but tending towards the beautiful and "usually" straight crowd.) The VIP deck is the place to hang while perusing the hot product on the dance floor. Both the small dance floor inside and the fab and romantic back patio rock till the wee hours...especially on Friday nights. | |

THE LIVING ROOM AT THE STRAND 671 WASHINGTON AVE., SOUTH BEACH (305)532-2340 OPEN NIGHTLY 9PM TO 5AM
| The Living Room is the spot for the young Euro trend setters. A friendly pseudo "relaxed" atmosphere is accomplished by the Palm Beach meets South Beach living room decor...lots of overstuffed sofas in velvet or maroon damask set the tone. Beaucoup Frenchmen and Latin types (or people pretending to be) posing with their digital phones as their Rolex’s glitter and gleam in the light of the disco ball. A good option for those who feel they may be too old to tolerate the pounding house music dance scenes of places like Liquid. Wednesdays are the hottest night here. | |
|
THE BAR ROOM LINCOLN ROAD BEWTEEN COLLINS AND WASHINGTON
| The Bar Room is IT for the moment. The newest addition to the South Beach club scene brought to you by the dynamic duo, Ingrid and Chris who also own Liquid an Joia. The buzz on this place is insane. All the "BP’s" can be spotted here. | |
|
LIQUID 1439 WASHINGTON AVE., SOUTH BEACH (305)532-2340
| One person’s pain is another person’s pleasure...Pounding house music, lots of club kids and a serious VIP section filled with a splattering of quasi celebrities. Former New York club kid, Michael Tronn used to run this spot. The new and improved interior design is a result of the work of Peter Sibilia, club and restaurant designer extraordinaire. Chris Pacello and partner Ingrid Casares own Liquid and get a lot of press mileage out of Ingrid’s lesbian links with Madonna, K.D. Lang, and Sandra Bernhard... to name a few. Last spotted here: Sean "Puffy" Combs, rap star/producer, hanging with yours truly and Benny Medina, creator of the mega successful "Fresh Prince of Bel Aire". Sundays is the "Xtra Large" gay night. The hip Monday night scene has moved on to Pennrods down at 1st and Ocean. | |
|
GROOVE JET 323 23rd STREET, SOUTH BEACH (305)532-2002
| Multiple dance floors with different kinds of music and an exotic, erotic massive outdoor patio keep the model wannabes and scenesters coming back for more. Take a cab.. this place is far from the main Ocean Ave. strip. If you’re into the electronic music scene then hit this place on Thursdays. | |
|
CHAOS 734 WASHINGTON AVE., SOUTH BEACH (305)674-7350
| Remember Les Bains? Well say au revoirs because it has been replaced by one of New York’s hot clubs du jour. Brought to you by an old veteran of the preppy Northeast club scene, Michael Ault, and some of his club pals, David Sarner, Tony Theodore and Tommy Pooch. Nice job boys. It’s a vast improvement over Les Bains tired decor. Lot’s of oriental rugs, sofas, candles and pillows. Time will tell if the South Beach Chaos will hit it big like it’s New York counterpart. Currently only open Thursdays to Saturdays. This will probably change when high season returns. Call in advance to get your name on the reservations list to avoid hassles at the door. | |
|
JAZID 1342 WASHINGTON AVE., SOUTH BEACH (305)673-9372
| In a town that embraces computerized, recorded house music played loud enough for the partially deaf, it is a thrill to see the growing success of this intimate club. Jazid is the best place in South Beach to see cutting edge live Jazz and Blues. This club is more about the music than the people, as any true Jazz club should be. | |
|
THE POWER HOUSE STUDIOS The Miami Design District, Miami
| One of the few hot spots located off of South Beach and it’s well worth the trip over the causeway. The Power Studios offers up some of the best in live local music talent. Catch a CD release party in one room with a collection of lesbos, lawyers and musicians then meander into the adjacent room to listen to an up and coming folk band. No attitude here, just great music and lots of it. |
