An old standby for the gay scene, this chic little spot is high on design and high on attitude. You’ll have to wait for your table, so belly up to the poured cement bar, take a gander at the tropical fish behind the glass, and order one of the best margaritas in town. The dining room, with its revolving art work, is a favorite haunt of the Velvet Mafia (the gay Hollywood power players) and Velcro Mafia (the young beautiful boys who sponge off of them). The American Bistro with eclectic influence is consistently good and the bar scene is lively enough to warrant a visit, even if food’s not on your mind.
MERIX
This low key, high energy Mexican joint with its hut-like feel is where the boys go to get a pitcher of the dangerous margaritas and tie one on. The place is always lively and fun…the tables are so close you can’t help but get to know your neighbor. The fajitas are fabulous, and one order is enough for two. P.S. It’s cheap! Note: Not to be confused with the ever hetero Merix TexMex on the west side, by the beach.

WEST HOLLYWOOD
By far the best gay bar in West Hollywood if you’re looking for a wild night out. Veteran Night-lifers Josh Wells and April LaRue joined forces to fill a void in the gay scene…something that has a rowdy bar, decent size dance floor, but still has an edge to it…not your typical Santa Monica Boulevard generic fare. Friday nights rock.
BEIGE-MIXED
This Tuesday night event is a spin off of Eric Conran’s night at B Bar (formerly Bowery Bar) in NYC, but it takes on a whole new feel as it’s landed high in the sky at 330, That fab new restaurant on the top of 6565 Sunset. The place is awfully chic, much like the hosts, Rusty Pedagraff, the owner, and Victor, the D.J. who rocks the floor. They have to push ‘em out the door at two and inevitably an after hour party ensues. Very fashion, so grab the Gucci glasses and Prada pants and turn it out, girl!
