Cafe Maurice Chaya Venice
CAFÉ MAURICE
747 N. LA CIENEGA BLVD.
(310)652-1609
High on wannabe French bistro atmosphere (the clientele leans more towards Persian Gulf than the Mediterranean) and low on price. Lots of loud music, lots of cigarette smoke, lots of solid French bistro dishes and lots of fun. Get a table outside on the front patio. Most of the patrons wander down to Thew Gate around 11pm Thursday through Saturday to fight their way into this dance club packed with young industry pretenders and MAWS (model-actor-whatevers). No day jobs here!
CHAYA VENICE
110 NAVY ST. (AT MAIN), VENICE
310-396-1179
The only place to be from 5-7pm Sunday through Friday. Chaya started an institution when they began their now famous sushi happy hours. You can quaff down some of the best sushi rolls in the city for only $2.75 (four choices) while sitting in one of the nicest and friendliest restaurant/bars on the West Side. Not to be missed for the professional hetero crowd. The wait staff happily serves up the rush of people that scramble to get their orders in at 6:55pm. No attitude here.
