***NEW*** ELIXIR TONICS AND TEAS 8612 MELROSE AVENUE WEST HOLLYWOOD (310) 657-9300 | ||||||
| After a rough night partying in La-La Land, Elixir is the perfect place to "get it back together". Located in the super stylish section of Melrose (far far away from Fairfax!), step on into the Zen-like palatial escape, order up "The Morning After", a tonic concoction that is the "answer to hangover hell". Whatever ails you, Elixir can aid you. The Viagra ain’t kickin’ in? Well. Try the "Mighty Joe Yang", their classic men’s virility tonic (Brandon Frasier does!). Ladies: Got cramps from Hell? Down a "Silk Thread" and become a better person, for Christ’s sake! Take your tonics hot or cold in the Asian garden and snag a table next to Winona, Cameron or Meg…all regulars of the super-groovy tonic and teahouse. Très, très L.A. They even have a licensed Chinese Medicine Doctor on hand for more serious situations… | ||||||

THE COFFEE ROASTER | 550 WASHINGTON BLVD., VENICE BEACH
Mornings at the Coffee Roaster bring out all types. Particularly on Sundays when the
Harley dudes stop off for their weekly brew and breakfast along with the bodybuilders from Gold’s Gym. The draw? Great breakfast food (the buff boys dig the 12 egg white omelet) served all day long. The fresh squeezed carrot and orange juice and the killer café lattes keeps the loyal crowds coming back.

THE NOVEL CAFÉ | 212 PIER AVENUE, SANTA MONICA
Just around the corner from the natural food store on Main Street sits this artsy hangout for poets and unemployed actors. There are a ton of old, used books to pick off the shelves. A perfect place to spend the afternoon with your laptop. The Novel Café also works well as a late night venue for those who are done with the Main Street crawl and need to sober up before driving home.

MANI'S EXPRESSO BAR AND BAKERY | 2507 MAIN STREET SANTA MONICA
If you are a member of the gluten-free or lactose-free crowd then run, don’t walk to Mani’s
bakery. It offers soymilk cappuccinos, gluten-free and dairy-free pastries and a chic gift store to browse as you sip. It’s a mellow and earthy scene here.
