| From boutique to big time, the hotel choices in Boston all tend towards the classic and conservative. It will be a cold day in hell before Ian Schrager and Phillipe Starck make their mark on the hotel scene here. | |
The Elliot Suites The Lenox The Four Seasons The Ritz
|
THE ELLOIT SUITES HOTEL 370 Commonwealth Ave. Boston (617)267-1607
| The Elliot recently under went massive renovations. It’s location at the end of Newbury Street and the fact that it’s home to one of Boston’s newest and best restaurants (Clios) make this all suites hotel a bargain. One Bedroom Suites start at $185/night and Two Bedroom Suites start at $550/night. It is a chic, boutique hotel. The kind of place I’d put up my friends. They could easily stumble across the street after an evening at The Cap or Sonsie. | |

THE LENOX 710 Boylston St. Boston (617)536-5300 BOOK IT NOW!
| The Lenox is another well located boutique hotel that even offers working fireplaces in the corner rooms. Another hot restaurant, Anago Bistro, recently took up residence on the first floor to rave reviews. Room rates range from $190 to $375. Great location in the heart of Back Bay (next door to Lord and Taylors) and in the same building as the Samual Adams Brewery. | |
|
THE FOUR SEASONS 200 Boylston St. Boston (617) 338-4400 BOOK IT NOW!
| Classy. Elegant. Views of the Boston Garden. You can’t go wrong with The Four Seasons Hotel! Around the corner from the chic end of Newbury Street shopping and next door to one of my favorite Hot spots, Biba’s. The Bristol Lounge is a great place for a drink, high tea, lunch or dinner. The bar area does get an interesting crowd. It’s quite civilized here. Live piano in the evening adds to the overall "loveliness". | |
|
THE RITZ 15 Arlington St. Boston (617)536-5700
| Another ideally located classic. This is the place I’d put up my mom, if she didn’t already live in Boston. The Ritz Cafe is a known power breakfast spot. And the Ritz Bar works for lunch as well as for cocktails. For designer clothing addicts, the Newbury Street location can’t be beat. Channel, Akris, Cartier and Versace Couture are all on the same block. The room rates are as you would expect for a hotel bearing the Ritz name and situated on the best block in Boston. Prices in high season start at $345. Suites with fireplaces? No problem for a cool $695/night! Also note that the Sunday buffet brunch in the dining room is the best in the city. | |
