| Happy hour hang outs are hardly intoxicating in Boston. If you must "get happy" try tying on a few at these recent arrivals: | |
**NEW**Radius The Vault Joe's American Bar and Grill The Bristol Lounge The Capital Grill
|
**NEW** RADIUS 8 HIGH STREET, BOSTON (617) 426-1234
| Darlings, I just came back from a fab dinner at Radius and I am happy to say that it is even better than it was when it first opened nearly a year ago. But pay attention, as the real secret to Radius is the hopping bar scene. Since Radius is located right in the financial district it gets a plethora of Preppy Bankers and " Chic Whatnots". After assessing the tasty types at the bar, sitting down for dinner was the LAST thing on my mind. While dinner was delicious, my focus was on the blond wasp sipping a scotch. What a shame he wasn’t on the menu. | |

THE VAULT 105 Water Street, Boston (617)292-9966
| A recent addition to Boston’s financial district which is why it’s usually filled for the happy hour routine. Lots of Brook's Brother's suits. An old converted bank with an actual vault downstairs. Decent wine list, funky light fixtures and mediocre food (the raw bar is a plus). | |
|
Joe’s American Bar And Grill/Waterfront 100 Atlantic Ave. Boston (617)367-8700
| Joe’s is an institution. The Newbury Street Joe’s never ran my motor too quickly since the downstairs bar is usually filled with a bunch of drunken meat heads. The Waterfront Joe’s opened last May and, much to my surprise, catered to a fun, more (slightly) upscale crowd. During the summer months only, this place rocks. The outdoor cafe is a great way to check out the new meat as it parades past you and into the bar. Go early. A long line starts to form around 7:00 PM. Avoid Friday and Saturday nights as the meat head crowd from Newbury Street has found it’s way down here too. If it’s too crowded, head down the street to another Boston institution, The Sail Loft. | |
| THE BRISTOL LOUNGE AT THE FOUR SEASONS HOTEL | |
| Always a gaggle of intriguingly well dressed business types and euros hanging around the bar who are clearly more NYC than Boston. This is a power bar scene to match the power lunch scene. Weekends get too crowded, often with a wait to get in. GO mid week for the best crowd and best chances of a seat. | |
